Vastu for Basement

Basement is a need of every house, but according to the principles of Vastu Shastra, the basement should not be constructed or opted for by an individual while constructing the home, as it is not considered auspicious. The basement in the house should not be used for living or sleeping purposes. If you follow the Vastu Shastra guidelines while constructing the basement in your house, you can prevent negative energies from arising due to the basement.

Vastu for Direction of Basement

According to Vastu principles, the basement should be constructed or built on the Northern or Eastern side. The Vastu Shastra considers the North and East side beneficial as the North side indicates good fortune and the East side indicates the direction of God.
The basement should be constructed due to the storage purpose or other things rather than constructing it for recreating purposes.

Vastu for the Shape of the Basement

The basement should be constructed in a regular shape such as a square or rectangle.
If you don’t follow the Vastu principles and construct the basement in an ill shape, then it might attract negative energies, cause a lot of hindrances and also affect the health of the family members.

Vastu for the Level of Basement

According to Vastu Shastra, the ¼ area of the basement should be above the ground level.
The basement's height should be at least nine feet.

Vastu for Storage in Basement

The heavy items or equipment should be placed in the southern or western direction of the basement.
Avoid keeping heavy items on the Northern or eastern side of the basement.

Vastu for colours of the Basement

According to Vastu Shastra, the individual should paint the basement with light and subtle colours and avoid painting the walls and roof of the basement with dark colours.
