Vastu for Hospitals
A hospital is a place where patients are provided with treatment by following modern health technologies. The hospitals consist of medical staff and many other experienced doctors. The majority of the patients are depressed and feel sick, that is they don’t recover in time. This occurs because hospitals are built on sites that do not adhere to Vaastu principles. It is not acceptable to construct hospital structures without considering topography, orientation, and location. To increase the rate of faster recoveries of the various patients, the hospital owner should construct the hospital buildings according to the Vastu Shastra guidelines.
Rooms for Hospitals
- According to Vastu Shastra, the consulting rooms for the doctors should be built in the northeast direction, most preferably in the east, northeast zone, because that is the best direction for diagnosis.
- The North direction is considered the best as it brings positive energies to the hospital building and the East direction is mainly preferred as the direction of God.
- Most preferably the constructor should make the hospital buildings, such as the building face in the east direction.
- Moreover, the operation theatre should be built in the southwest direction of the hospital.
- The beams in the patient's recovery room should be concealed by a false ceiling, and their beds should ideally be placed on the east or south walls.
- The ICU and the recovery rooms should be built in the North-East zone because it is considered the best for rapid recovery.
- The medical equipment should be sterilised in the southeast quadrant of the hospital.
- The toilets must be constructed in the west direction.
- The labour room in the maternity hospital should be in the southwest.
Design for the Hospitals
- According to the Vastu Principles, the west zone of the hospital is preferred as an ideal direction for the Operation Theater.
- The hospital owner should install the machines or equipment in the southeast corner.
- During the operation, the patient's head should be oriented in the southward direction while staying in the operating room.
- Also, the medicinal device should be kept on the south, southwest, or west side of the patient's bed during the operation.
- The specialist should sit in the directions such as the South, West, or South-West side of the consultation room, and the patients should sit in front of the doctor or the specialist.
- The 'L' shape becomes increasingly important in the doctor's conference room.
- This 'L' shape should be raised specifically to the North-East direction. According to the Vastu, the L shape in the North-East direction will bring success to the institution's leader or the specialist.
- The patient's room should be ventilated and have openings in the North-East direction to allow positive rays that will aid in their recovery.
- The pharmacy should be located in the South-West, West, or South directions. And it should be higher than the hospital's ground level.
- For quick recovery and healing, emergency patients should be admitted to the southwest room.
- The northeast section is the best location for drinking water. The eastern or northern side of the hospital is ideal for restrooms.
- Medicinal books can be written in either the south or west.
- The Southeast location room is only suitable for X-Ray purposes.
- Both the southeast and northwest zones are suitable for nurse quarters. South or west is the best location for changing rooms and restrooms.
Architecture for the Hospitals
- According to Vastu Shastra, the land for the hospital building should be square or in rectangular shape due to the magnetic force. The square or rectangular land generates positive energy and the magnetic force is considered very lucky.
- Other than this, the square land should not be larger than the 2:1 ratio as it reduces the effect of magnetic force.
- The hospital's main building should be oriented southwest.
- The front of the hospital should be constructed in such a way that it faces the East or North direction. Due to this, the hospital quickly became popular in society.
- It is considered beneficial to keep the hospital's entrance doors in the East and North directions.
- The tube wells and borewells should be installed in the extreme North-East corner of the hospital.
- A fountain or pond should be installed in the hospital's north or east direction to bring progress and improve the reputation of the hospital.
- The hospital will gain international recognition if the slope of the land is built toward the north or east side.
- The northeast section of the hospital should remain open.
- To construct the hospital building, the South and West directions are advantageous.
- The hospital's main entrance should be kept open and clean.
Colours for the Hospitals
- According to Vastu Shastra, the colours for the hospital should be painted in such a manner that the patient's room should be in a light blue or yellow shade to promote mental calm.
- The waiting room should be painted light beige or peach colour to brighten the space.
- The yellow colour should be avoided in the reception area. It should be painted in inviting and warm shades of light crimson or purple colours.
- The consultation room should be painted an ivory colour.
- The operating room should be painted with turquoise colour.
- Colours such as dark blue, black, and grey should be avoided at all costs as they symbolise stress and depression that could affect the health of a patient.
Storeroom for the Hospitals
- The hospital owner should construct the building in such a manner to fulfil the requirement of a storeroom for housing medical equipment, surgical equipment, and other supplies in the West, South, or South-West direction.
- The hospital owner should ensure that the storeroom is built higher than the main building's flooring.
